One pen is usually 4 doses wbich is a month (ie once weekly) as its a long lasting medication. I had terrible side effects at the lowest dose; however, my A1C went from 11 to 8.4 and now currently at 5 and my daily glucose readings from the high 200s-300s down to the 80-90 range and I feel so much better now.
